A custom luminaire begins like any other design; with a concept or idea and a sketch. If you are like many designers, you favor customizing a signature pendant, sconce, or an outdoor area light for that special WOW factor lighting brings to a project!

LumenSource represents manufacturers with nearly infinite resources; allowing opportunities to explore perhaps a one of a kind design or a family of fixtures to achieve the best concept. We may be able to work with a standard product by modifying one, two or maybe several design details. Using standard components at times provides a cost savings while creating a custom look for the project. Our manufacturer partners bring your inspirations to reality!

Keys to a Successful Custom (or Modified) Luminaire Project:

• Work with Manufacturers who enjoy a successful project history and reference resume! There is no substitute for first hand knowledge!
• Review detailed drawings at each phase of production to fully meet expectations. LumenSource will coordinate direct communication between you and the factory team.
• Build relationships with manufacturers who use in-house tooling and finishing capabilities. Ask for an inspection of their facility as well as meet with the engineering and design team.
• Request finishes if the quantities or leadtime schedule does not allow for a mock-up.

Throughout the complete development, LumenSource will monitor the project schedule to correspond the production schedule with the construction schedule. From order entry → submittal review and approval → release by the contractor → production time to manufacture; we maintain the cycles of the schedule.
